GMS Bathroom Procedures

Bathroom Daily Usage: 

• This will start the SECOND week of school!!!

• 8:00am-8:30am: Bathrooms will remain open for student use ONLY if the staff members assigned to each hallway bathroom duty station actively monitors and shows up. If staff members do not show up to their duty station and procedures are not followed the bathrooms will be locked. Once students are in Core 1/Homeroom they need to stay there-- they should go to the bathroom before getting to Core 1 class. 

• Before or After Designated Lunch time: Core teachers will take their students as a whole class to the bathroom before or after their scheduled lunch time. Your team will need to plan which teachers will take their class BEFORE lunch and which teachers will take the students AFTER lunch. 

• Students will be able to go to the bathroom any TWO times during the school day in addition to the times listed above. They will use their Individual Student Bathroom Tracker to monitor which two times during the school day they are using their bathroom opportunities. 

• Students CANNOT use the bathroom the FIRST 10 minutes or the LAST 10 minutes of class. Teachers cannot allow students to use the bathroom during these times. This is when students are doing warm-ups and summary/exit activities. Even if students are saying it is an “emergency” they CANNOT go during this time. 

• Bathrooms will remain locked during transition between classes. 

Each teacher will be provided one GMS Bathroom Pass with a lanyard for their classroom. THIS is the ONLY PASS you can give students to use the bathroom. This is the only pass students bring with them to the bathroom.

Each grade level has a different color classroom bathroom lanyard pass. Applied Arts, Fine Arts and PE teachers will have different color bathroom passes as well. 

ONLY ONE student is allowed to use the bathroom at a time. Never send more than one student to the bathroom at a time. It is a safety concern.
