Students are expected to practice their instrument consistently, with a recommended minimum of 20-30 minutes, 4-5 times per week
Practice logs will be maintained to track individual progress and commitment
Individual practice is crucial for personal musical development and ensemble success
Students will learn to read music, understand musical notation, and develop fundamental playing techniques

Active and positive participation is essential
Students must arrive to class on time with all necessary materials (instrument, music, pencil)
Engagement during rehearsals includes:
Listening to instructor directions
Supporting and encouraging fellow band members
Maintaining a respectful and collaborative learning environment

Treat all instruments, equipment, and fellow musicians with respect
Follow classroom and ensemble etiquette
Demonstrate patience with yourself and others during the learning process
Maintain a growth mindset and embrace challenges as opportunities to improve

Band is a collaborative art form that requires teamwork and mutual support
Students will learn to:
Listen to each other during rehearsals
Blend and balance sound within the ensemble
Support fellow musicians' learning journey
Build a sense of community and shared musical experience

Students will participate in two primary concerts:
1. Winter Concert (typically held in December)
2. Spring Concert (typically held in May)
Performances are a celebration of student learning and musical growth
Attendance at concerts is mandatory and considered part of the course grade
Students will be expected to attend rehearsals and dress in concert attire
