Hello! My name is Ms. Ropp, and I am the orchestra teacher at Githens Middle School! My goals are to create and empower a community of string players as we learn how to perform on this family of instruments. I’m looking forward to making music with students and developing a community of musicians.

My musical journey started when I was a young girl learning piano from my grandmother. I started playing violin in 4th grade and switched to playing double bass when I was in 7th grade. I started teaching in high school with the help of a mentorship program and was challenged by switching between students who play the instruments I do and those who do not. That program developed my drive to teach and expanded my love of orchestral instruments. Since then, I’ve played in many orchestras such as the UNC Symphony, UNC Wind Ensemble, and the Durham Symphony and taught privately. 

Outside of orchestra and teaching, I enjoy dancing, reading, and cross-stitching!
