RAZ Plus - The New Reading Program

The mission of our school is to provide exemplary education to our students. In keeping with the current education development courses, the school is introducing a new Literacy Program by Learning A-Z to support the present Curriculum.

Learning A-Z, a USA based company present in 175+ countries offers an international program that provides personalized learning for every child. Raz-Plus deepens literacy skills by guiding reading at the child’s reading level, thus supporting all types of learners.

An Orientation Session was designed and conducted by the Librarian, Ms. Aparna Khedkar, all the Mother Teachers and English teachers to introduce the programme and guide the Parents and students. The parents were briefed that Raz-Plus is an online library of leveled resources that enhances Pre K to 5 reading skills by combining teacher instruction, independent practice, formative assessment, and reporting. Parents were also briefed on how to login in to their ward's account , the basic steps to access books and how to use the different resources available that will make reading truly FUN!

DPS Lava has always encouraged its students to read books. Reading is one of the most fundamental skills children need to develop to be successful.

Keeping this in mind the School has created a virtual library for the students and has shared it on social media and Google Classroom. It is user-friendly with lots of options like links to digital books, read-aloud and reading games, Story Videos, Riddles, Quizzes, General knowledge, and lots more.

Each day the virtual library is updated with new resources.

Students love it!

Raz Kids Reading Program is Awesome!! It has many books to read and many options, like listening to books and solving a quiz of a recently read book. Our Teachers assign us a particular book she wants us to read, Each and every Teacher can send an invite to her students. They can accept it and then we can choose our name and enter the unique Password. We have an Assignment Section too. There is an option to Create our own Avatar and design it by ourselves, we can buy him / her clothes using the stars we earn by reading books, listening to the books, and solving the quiz.

The programme has many resources. In particular, in the Reading Room, there are many options to read books, like Fiction stories or Non - Fiction Stories; Adventure books or books related to Wild Life. Books are available in French and Spanish too.

This new technology has come to engage the kids, who immerse themselves into reading, which is very good for us.

‘ANNA KARENINA’ - LEO TOLSTOY

Leo Tolstoy, the Russian writer famous for his book ’War and Peace’ published in 1869, wrote another book ‘Anna Karenina’ which was published in 1878. Even today this is a classic read for generations of book lovers.

This book scrutinizes fundamental ethical and theological questions through the tragic story of its eponymous heroine. Anna is desperately pursuing a good moral life’ standing for honesty and sincerity. Passion drives her to adultery and this flies in the face of the corrupt Russian bourgeoisie. Meanwhile ,the aristocrat Konstantin Levin is struggling to reconcile reason with passion, espousing a Christian anarchism that Tolstoy himself believed in.

This book acclaimed by critics and readers alike presents a poignant blend of realism and lyricism that make it one of the most enduring novels of all times.
