It is a matter of immense pride for the entire Delhi Public School Varanasi, Nashik and Lava Nagpur Fraternity that our PRO VC, Mr.Gautam Rajgarhia has been awarded as lndia’s most lmpactful Leader in 2020 during a live virtual ceremony organized by Indian Principals' Network and Matific UK.
Although 2020 has been a precarious year so far, yet Mr.Rajgarhia has always stood determined & robust in his approach and efforts for doing what is best for the society at large, entailing various aspects ranging from education, health & environment.
Team DPS always looks up to its PRO VC as a role model and aspires to follow in his footsteps. Mr. Rajgarhia was nominated by 400 plus Leaders across India and was honoured for his visionary approach, never say die spirit, and exemplary leadership.
The Members of the jury, Dr. AP Jayaraman, Nuclear Scientist, President STEAM Academy& Chairperson NCSC, Mr. AK Sharma, Former Assistant Commissioner, KV Sangathan. Former IAS, Author & Motivational Speaker, Mr. Vivek Atray, Strategic Advisor & Board Member Eduace Services Mr. Sanjay Virnave, interacted with him and were impressed to hear about the achievements and innovations.
Ms. Anupuma Sagdeo, the Principal of DPS Lava, attended the Induction programme for Principals conducted by DPSS HRDC from 9th Dec to 11th Dec. The sessions were informative and enriching, especially the sessions on NEP 2020, Montessori Method, Positive Psychology and Inclusive Education.
Madam also attended an interactive session on 17th and 18th Dec with the CBSE organized by DPSS HRDC.
Mr Manoj Ahuja, CBSE Chairman spoke about the NEP 2020 and explained the affiliation process. Dr Joseph Emanual, Academic Director CBSE, Spoke about the pedagogical plans, new academic initiatives by CBSE. Mr Anurag Tripathi, Secretary CBSE, spoke about learning skills, literacy skills and life skills. Dr Biswajit Saha's chaired a session on vocational training. Dr Sayam Bharadwaj, Controller of Examination CBSE, gave directions to conduct the practicals, evaluation, fixing of examination centres and assessment in lower classes.
Ms. Anupuma Sagdeo, our Principal, shared how we at DPS Lava had embraced digitalisation. Our teachers are providing the students with new tools to help them explore new ways of thinking and retain information. They reinvented themselves totally and ensured that the learning of their students continued uninterrupted. The online mode has strengthened the teacher student relationship.
Parents' Orientation, Teacher Training, Project Based learning, Student led Conferences, Passion Projects, have helped children to take responsibility of their own learning.
The teachers also brought in the formative assessment tools from physical classrooms to virtual classrooms and are able to use a platform like exam.net successfully for summative assessments in higher classes.
We are conducting a plethora of activities in the school Inter House competitions, co-curricular activities like dance, music, art n craft are also being conducted online. Health and Fitness classes are conducted by our PE teachers.
We are also taking care of their emotional learning. Life skills classes through School Cinema are conducted weekly followed by quality circle time.
The teachers and students have embraced the new age teaching learning methods and the teachers are definitely not going back to their old methods of teaching..
Delhi Public School , Lava is running successfully online, it’s just that the building is closed.
Breaking Barriers is an initiative by DPS Varanasi, Nashik and Lava Nagpur. The latest edition was organised in association with SPIC MACAY as a part of its The Rendezvous Series. It was a live interaction with the Kathak exponent Padmabhushan Dr. Uma Sharma. The event was hosted by Delhi Public School Lava, on 5th December 2020.
Dr. Sharma is a renowned classical dancer who has been awarded Padma Bhushan for her unique contribution to the cultural tradition of this country. She runs her own School of Music and Dance BHARTIYA SANGEET SADAN (UMA SHARMA SCHOOL OF DANCE AND MUSIC) and has been training a whole new generation of young dancers.
The audience was mesmerised by her beautiful dance performances. She captivated the audience with her fluid, elegant moves and abhinaya that depicted her love for Lord Krishna.
Dr. Uma Sharma graciously and patiently answered all the questions put by the students of DPS Lava, viz. Shravan Zoad, Surbhi Udawant, Sanskruti Khedkar, Arshi Shaikh and Daksha Singh. Ms. Anupuma Sagdeo, the Principal of the school, delivered the welcome address.
“Every small action matters because when seven billion people do that small thing, it brings a big change to the world”.
With this thought, Delhi Public School (Varanasi, Nashik, Lava Nagpur) took a wonderful initiative to explain to the new generation the importance of SDGs i.e. Sustainable Development Goals.
DPS conducted an interactive webinar for the students on 5th December 2020. The agenda of the webinar was to make the students aware of the SDGs, the (17) seventeen interlinked goals to transform our world.
The Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.
The Webinar began with a beautiful poem recited by Ms. Sunanda Pandey explaining the importance of each finger on our hand. The poem was self-explanatory that together we can….and will bring a change. Ms. Megha Dabholkar, spoke about International Volunteer Day and its importance.
The Principal of DPS Varanasi, Mr. Mukesh Shelat dressed as the Prime Minister of India, took the opportunity to interact with the students. He explained to them the principle and objectives of SDG - “Leaving no one behind”, the agenda that emphasizes a holistic approach to achieving sustainable development for all.
Ms. Swati Sharma explained the 17 goals through beautiful illustrations. Later Ms. Sree Vidya Nair had an interactive session with the students. She conducted an online activity where the questions motivated the students to think out of the box and respond to how they could lend a helping hand to realize the SDGs.
The webinar ended with a pledge on SDG.
A wonderful evening came to an end with the hope that Gen X would come forward and contribute towards these goals.
