General Information
Albizia Coriaria is a large tree, reaching a height of up to 18 meters, with an often twisted trunk and flat top. Most commonly found from sudan to Angola, as well as commonly being found in a variety of soils in Kenya and Uganda. Often found at reverine forests and in wooded grasslands
Features of Albizia Coriaria that make it identifiable:
The Bark is black- gray, with a rather rough and flaking appearence
The Leaves consist of many medium large leaflets, of up tp 6 to 11 pairs around 30mm long, bright green when young
The flowers quite numerous and delicate looking, with pink/white hemispherical heads
The fruit flat brownish purple pods that are often shiny, 100-200x 30mm
Uses
The wood is hard and durable, often used as timber and in furniture production as well as fuel
The tree itself is useful for nitrogen fixation, and as a bee habitat
