Prior to teaching here at Ascent, Mrs. Shepard taught general music, choir, piano, guitar, and musical theatre to middle school and then preschool students at Cherry Hills Christian School. She has also tutored in reading, writing, math, ACT and SAT prep, and cognitive skills; and has worked with children and adults with disabilities.  Prior to entering the classroom, Mrs. Shepard earned a degree in Music Education at CCU, where she learned both to appreciate the intricacies of music and to play a simple tune on just about every instrument.  With each new opportunity, she has learned and grown so much as an educator and as a person!

As a life-long learner, Mrs. Shepard is always looking for new adventures to experience, books to read, and cuisines to try.  In her free time, she enjoys getting outside with her son, stand-up paddle boarding, and, of course, making music!  Her favorite composers are Debussy, Beethoven, Chopin, and Whitacre.
