Please practice the following poems to prepare for Fine Arts Night
Literature
Stories have a beginning, a middle, and an end.
Characters/setting, conflict/problem, and resolution/ending can be identified in stories.

Nature Study
The natural world can be observed using our senses.
Observations of the natural world can be recorded.
Biographies
A biography is a story about a real person that lived in a real place.
Poetry
Language has rhythm, rhyme, and repetition that can be felt if read or listened to aloud.
Literacy
Letters connect to sounds.
Sounds connect to letters.
The English language follows rules.

We have finished learning all the lowercase letters and will move into writing words. We will be listening for sounds as well as segmenting words into syllables.

Learning Ally: Set up your student's account on Learning Ally. You will receive an email with login information. I will assign books to students' accounts throughout the year, and they can listen or follow along while the book is read to them.
Handwriting: Practice writing the words that characterize birds (bird, wings, beak, feathers, backbone, warm-blooded)
Literature:
Talk about how you can be a friend to someone.
Read or listen to “The Ugly Duckling” on Learning Ally.
Nature Study:
Review characteristics of birds (backbone, warm-blooded, wings, beak, feathers, two legs)
Observe birds
Biographies:
Practice memory statement: George Washington led the Continental Army and became the first president of The United States of America.
Look for George Washington on the quarter and the one dollar bill.
Find Virginia on a map.
Poetry: Practice reciting Time to Rise. Recitation day is March 4/5.
Handwriting: Practice writing the words that characterize birds (bird, wings, beak, feathers, backbone, warm-blooded, two legs)
Literature: Identify the characters in the stories you read.
Nature Study:
Look for robins.
