Carpooling

We are pleased to offer Schoolpool as an optional service to our families who may be interested in carpooling. Schoolpool is offered by Way to Go, a federally funded program of the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG). 

How does Schoolpool work?

1. Ascent will submit our family list to Way to Go to be imported into its secure mapping website. This list will include parent and student names, grades, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses to be shared with other Ascent families. 

2. In late August, you will receive an email from Way to Go informing you of the closest Ascent families. Be sure to add waytogo@drcog.org to your address book or safe sender list to ensure email delivery. If you don’t have an email address, the information will be sent via mail.

3. Through the secure website, you can add comments to indicate special requests or preferences, such as “can provide morning rides in exchange for afternoon rides,” “student is in afterschool activities” or “looking for a walk buddy in the mornings.”

4. If you are interested in participating in carpooling through Schoolpool, it is your responsibility to contact families to determine interest and make arrangements. The information is also a great resource to meet nearby Ascent families for other reasons such as temporary transportation needs, playdates and babysitters. Potential users are advised to screen participants to their personal satisfaction and check their own insurance coverage for carpooling to ensure that they are covered under these voluntary arrangements. No drivers, vehicles or insurance are provided.
