Classical Performance

Fall 2025

Second graders will be memorizing poetry selections: "Sing a Song of People" by Lois Lenski, "Solomon Grundy" (Anonymous), "Thanksgiving Day" by Lydia Marie Child, and "The Pasture" by Robert Frost. They will also prepare a performance of Aesop's Fables.

Third & Fourth graders will be memorizing poetry selections: "Break, Break, Break" by Alfred, Lord Tennyson, "Jimmy Jet and his TV Set" by Shel Silverstein, and "Eletelephony" by Laura Elizabeth Richards. They will also prepare a performance of Odysseus and the Trojan Horse.

Fifth & Sixth graders will be memorizing Blake's "The Tyger" & "The Lamb", and Whitman's "O Captain, My Captain." They will also read through Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream together.

Seventh & Eighth graders will be memorizing Shakespeare's Sonnet 116, William Blake's "The Chimney Sweeper," Emily Dickinson's "Because I Could Not Stop For Death" and Robert Frost's "Nothing Gold Can Stay." They will also read through Shakespeare's Macbeth together.
