This class will illustrate important elements of making and appreciating art. Students will interact with a variety of mediums including: paint, clay, oil pastel, print-making, calligraphy and drawing. Students will study important artists, works of art, and artistic concepts as well as great works of art by the masters.
This class will introduce students to the art of speaking. Students will study, practice and recite poetry, Shakespeare, fables and fairy tales. They will participate in short performances based on adaptations of classical literature.
Students will see history come alive as they learn about remarkable men and women who have changed the course of history. This class will supplement the other enrichment courses as students learn about the lives of composers, artists, scientists, and other key figures throughout history.
Younger students will listen to classic stories and participate in supplementary activities that enrich the literature. Older students will use the Socratic Seminar method to read and discuss great works with their classmates.
Music class will give students a love for great music as they learn to listen and appreciate a variety of genres and composers. Students will learn basic music theory, as well as enjoy singing and playing different instruments in class.
This science class will focus on teaching the skills of observation in the natural world as students learn to wonder about the environment around them. They will be outdoors regularly as they learn to create and keep a nature journal.
