LGBT+

Sexuality and sexual orientation is about who you're physically and emotionally attracted to. Everyone is different and sometimes understanding your sexuality can be confusing.

Gender identity is a person's innate sense of their own gender, whether male, female or something else (e.g. non binary) which may or may not correspond to the sex assigned at birth.

It's important to remember though that sexuality and gender identity are part of who you are.

LGBT+ stands for Lesbian, Gay, Transgender and more. Even though people refer to them together gender identity isn't the same as sexuality.

5 things to remember about your sexuality according to Childline:

Sexuality isn’t a choice.

It takes different people different amounts of time to understand their sexuality.

'Coming out' is different for everyone, but it can get easier as you start to tell more people.

There are lots of different types of sexuality.

Sexuality can change over time - this is OK.
