Summary
April 23-30, 2023 twelve seventh and eighth grade students and two accompanying teachers participated in student mobility in Dublin, Ireland, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
The theme of the study trip was focused on sustainability, environmental protection, and getting to know Irish culture through project methods. Our students were able to acquire important knowledge about the impact of environmental pollution on our lives, plastic pollution and the environmental policy of the European Union. In addition, they dealt with the issue of fashion, especially "fast fashion", and also interviewed passers-by on the streets of Dublin.
Spending free time also included useful activities: viking culture at the Dublinia Viking Museum, art and craft products at the military history exhibition at Collins Barracks, and the history of Ireland. They could also get to know the lives of outstanding Irish personalities (actors, scientists, artists, etc.) at The National Wax Museum. Our students also visited the third largest stadium in Europe, the GAA (Gaelic Athletic Association). They could look into the dressing rooms, walk around the field and even try out the VIP seats. They tested the hurling bats, then they also looked into the match broadcasting room. They were rock climbing on the Howth Peninsula, where they also met a seal in the harbour.
On Saturday, they went on a trip to one of the most important tourist attractions on the island of Ireland, the Cliffs of Moher. After wandering around the city of Galway, they also saw what life in the Irish countryside is like.
During the Erasmus+ project week, special emphasis was placed on the development of students' English language skills, which was supplemented with an incredible number of cultural elements every day (music, food tasting, transportation, etc.).
