Between 17–21 November 2025, a group of 10 students aged 15–17 from our school took part in a mobility programme in Château-Thierry, France, invited by the Lycée Jean de La Fontaine. The group travelled by plane, and the mobility lasted five days. Students were hosted by local families, which significantly supported their language development and integration into French culture. Although the weather was particularly cold and foggy, making some outdoor activities more challenging, the learners took part in both the project and everyday school life with enthusiasm.
The main theme of the mobility was environmental sustainability and awareness, expressed through various artistic disciplines, and the programme was carried out in English. Students worked in international groups in Polish–French–Italian–Hungarian cooperation, which developed their communication and teamwork skills. They participated in hip-hop, music and theatre workshops, creative visual arts sessions, as well as sustainability-related activities such as terrarium making and upcycling projects. By the end of the week, each group had to produce a joint video or presentation to showcase their experiences and creations throughout the project.
The professional work was complemented by several cultural and educational excursions, and there was time for fun as well. On Wednesday afternoon the group went bowling, forming mixed Polish–French–Italian–Hungarian teams, and even the accompanying teachers joined in. True to our reputation as a sports school, the team with the majority from Cserepkás won :D
Students also explored the historical parts of Château-Thierry, visited the Old Castle, and later admired the cathedral in Reims. They took part in a treasure hunt in the La Hotte du Diable area, and also visited Paris, where the Musée d’Orsay, the Cité des Sciences, and the Tuileries Garden area were on the programme. The evening “Paris by Night” tour was a special highlight. These excursions not only provided memorable experiences but were closely linked to the cultural and artistic themes of the project. During the off-site activities, students had to complete creative tasks related to sustainability and environmental protection.
The participants behaved politely, openly and with curiosity; several host families specifically praised their communication skills and adaptability. Although language difficulties did occur, the students handled them bravely and creatively, often using translation apps or gestures to support themselves.
We are particularly delighted that in March 2026 we will have the opportunity to host the French students and their teachers in Hungary, where the project will continue. The return visit will provide an excellent opportunity to further develop the activities begun together, deepen international relationships and enrich students in both countries with new experiences.
