Main function includes water storage, but in some species acts as an additional site for fermentation
The large intestine is split into colons and cecum(listed above)
Cows have a split in their colon, the ascending colon has three sections: proximal, distal, spiral loop
Transverse and descending colon do not have sections
The purpose of the colon is for further water, electrolytes and vitamin absorption in the large intestine
