Each finger has several jobs. Your left pinky finger, now call the A finger, rests on the letter A. This is also an anchoring finger meaning that if its not reaching for a key it doesn't leave that key. This makes it easier for you to stay on home row without looking. On the chart to the left you will notice all the reaches your A finger makes in pink. Your left ring finger is the S finger, your left middle finger rests on D and is called the D finger and your left index or pointer finger is the F finger. Your F finger is also an anchoring finger. It never leaves the F key if it isn't making a reach. Your right index finger rests on the J key and is called the J finger. Follow the pattern all the way past L to the semicolon key where your pinky will rest. The J and semicolon fingers are anchoring fingers also. You will always have at least one finger from each hand on home row at all times. Both your thumbs will rest on the space bar. The space bar is the largest key and it has nothing on it. Both thumbs will fit comfortably.
