Day 5 - June 11th
Good morning!
Please text if you need anything in the morning 940-3762. Just pick and choose, or have the classes choose songs/activities from the lists below. I've left some options for books on my desk and this is a great site https://musiclab.chromeexperiments.com/ to open up at the end of class and explore if there is extra time to fill on a Friday! Students can take turns coming up to the smart board :)
Students should have sanitized their hands before music class, if anyone did not sanitize please ask them to sanitize before using the instruments.
Thank you!

Have a student show you how the game works. The music is on my desk and there is a video below to remind students of the set up. While one student fishes, the class sings. After they have caught something they put it up on the piano (they are magnetic). After there are 4 sea creatures on the piano speak and clap the word chain! We've added the BX and Tambourines but not the glock parts yet. Feel free to add it today if you'd like!

Students can have some time to practice in small groups - playing quietly for a few minutes. This is new to most students so they can just start by learning the first phrase. Some may know it already and they can help those who need help.
They can listen to the song/video first if they'd like as well:)
Students can explain this game to you and teach you the song :)
Thank you for coming in for me today. Please let me know through text 940-3762/ note about the day. Thank you!

Day 5 - April 28th
Hello Mr. Gauthier and Grade 2!
Grade 2 students are rehearsing for their spring concert. Please have some "helper" students from each class show you the routine with each piece below. Music students, remember we will be recording soon so please do your best and play musically.
Garden song - Sing along with the video and choose a few leaders to do the actions at the front of the class.
Who's That? - Students should go to the same instrument they were at at the END of class last music day. If there are any issues remembering which student was at which spot just ask them to share with someone and I will sort it out next time. Don't worry, we will figure out a great spot for everyone! Choose a few students to demonstrate each instrument part and which words it matches up with!
Drumming with Numbers - Have students show you the body percussion parts for this - no drums today please.
1 =head taps
2= shoulder taps
3=pat
4= stomp
Watch Firefly Video - They will learn the flashlight routine next week!
Read The Bad Seed - Just if extra time to fill or play a game :)
Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
All it takes is a rake and a hoe
And a piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch, row by row
Someone bless these seeds I sow
Someone warm them from below
Till the rain comes tumbling down
Pulling weeds and picking stones
We are made of dreams and bones
Feel the need to grow my own
Cause the time is close at hand
Grain for grain, sun and rain
Find my way in nature's chain
Tune my body and my brain
To the music from the land
Plant your rows straight and long
Temper them with prayer and song
Mother Earth will make you strong
If you give her love and care
Old crow watching hungrily
From his perch in yonder tree
In my garden I'm as free
As that feathered thief up there
Inch by inch, row by row
Gonna make this garden grow
All it takes is a rake and a hoe
And a piece of fertile ground
Inch by inch, row by row
Someone bless these seeds I sow
Someone warm them from below
Till the rain comes tumbling down
Body Break!
Hello Grade 3!
Please play through some of your favourite songs for Mr. Gauthier. Rain rain (pg. 25), and Engine Engine (pg. 27) would be great as a warm up.
Then try learning some of Acka Backa. This is a song you have heard before in grade 2 or 1 but its new on your recorders! You do already know all the notes you need. Check out these tutorials to help learn the song. I'll help you more on Friday as well.
White Belt - Hot Cross Buns
Yellow Belt - Merrily We Roll Along
Red - Hop Old Squirrel
Blue - Rain Rain
Green - Engine Engine
Body Break!
Do some music experiments as a class together. Choose quiet students to come up to the Smart Board (sanitize first!) and explain these cool games!
Thank you for coming in for me Zack. Please see my schedule on my desk.
Please remember to have the google sites in preview mood, then the links for videos will all work well for you!
You will go pick up each class and deliver them back to reduce congestion in the hallways.
Masks must be worn in the hallways.
They can remove masks once they are in their designated spot in the music room. When singing please wear masks and space out as much as possible.
When the fire bell rings, a student leader lines up, opens the door and begins to lead the class out.
The teacher is the last one out. Windows closed, shut off the lights, and door closed.
We leave the classroom and go through the courtyard to the soccer field.
When all students are out, use the class seating charts to do a roll call.
Re-enter the building when directed.
Class lists are in the black binder on my desk.
Day 3 - March 11
Check out this video introduction to Peter and the wolf! One of my favourites from when I was a little girl. We will learn more about this story after March Break!
Listen to this song on the video - at 2 mins and 40 seconds. Once the students are reminded of the tune the video can be turned off.

Day 3 - January 21st
-Choose a student to demonstrate the actions to "movement canon"...they know it well. Perform as a group, try in different voices, speak, whisper, then try inside your head.
-Divide into two groups. One group starts, the other comes in second on the word "bend" - Then switch parts. Students can hopefully walk you through the process!
-Read aloud - Some classes have started the first few pages, but just start at the beginning for everyone as a review.
-After the story watch the video and raise your hand when you hear the "grandfathers poem" /Chorus.
-We will learn the Waving Flag dance next music class.
-Learn new poem line by line with echoes. Add body percussion using jam board below.
-Create patterns like "stamp stamp - clap clap " to go along with the poem. Try the example I made first, add poem. Then make a new body percussion pattern.
