Dec. 7th, 2020 (Day 4)
Hello Ms. Megan Johnson! Thank you for coming in for me today. I hope you have a wonderful day with our Kindergarten students. Please check the yellow schedule on my desk and see the black sub binder for additional information. Please leave a note to tell me about the day and text me at 940-3762 if you have running into any tech issues. Make the smart board and speaker cords are plugged in and that the google sites is in "preview" mode. The videos are easier to play that way. Zack is teaching music across the hall today and can help you get set up. Thanks!
Covid-19 has made music a challenging class to teach in 2020.
Masks must be worn in the hallways.
They can remove masks once they are in their designated spot in the music room.
Currently, the CPHO guidance regarding singing is "6 Feet apart with masks; 12 feet apart without masks" The students in our classrooms are only 5 feet apart.
All students must face the front - no circle games or hand partner games.
They can explore movement in their own space.
Seating plans are in the black binder on my desk.
Students stay out of the blue "teacher-zone"
Review poem line by line, ask the students to show you the actions! (wrapping motion, pulling outwards, clap 3 times). They have only done this one other time. So will need a refresher. Do the poem in a speaking voice, whisper, faster, slower, silly voice, robot voice etc.
Play music and follow along with the actions and freezes. The children can move safely close to their stickers.
There are a number of Christmas books on the back shelf. There is a copy of the 12 Days which you could read. Or feel free to choose another if you'd like! Usually I would sing and show them the pictures at the same time. However, we cannot sign unless you have a mask and 6ft - and students cannot sing as they don't have enough space.
Choreography
If you need to fill any time you can show them a few minutes of the movie above. We will finish the rest of the movie on another day. It has really beautiful music and very little talking so a lovely choice for music class this time of year.
Also please take additional books from the shelf if needed as well. Thank you for coming in and please send me a text if you need anything.
