Assessment is based on participation, performance and set written tasks.

Students will further refine both solo and group performance skills and learn about practice techniques, in addition to developing the skills to describe and analyse musical works from various genres and contexts. They will use music technology to assist the development of their aural (listening) skills. Students will participate in master-class style workshops and present a performance at the end of the semester. This class can be taken as preparation for VCE Music Performance or just for fun.

*It is recommended that students who elect to take this subject have one year’s experience playing an instrument/singing.

Songwriting and Music Technologies

This subject will develop skills in songwriting and music technology by requiring students to conceptualise and articulate an original interactive work. Students will develop strategies and gain an understanding of production values in relation to this task. Students will have to collaborate, communicate and organise an ensemble to realise the work. Students will also build an understanding of, and skills, in music software programming and recording.
