VET

Year 10 students have the option of undertaking a VET Course run at Cheltenham SC. This is to align the Year 10 timetable with the rest of Senior School and to allow students to undertake an extra elective. 

Year 11 and 12 students are also able to take on an internal VET subject as part of their VCE. Below is a list of these courses and their prices. 

VET Sports Coaching: 

Students who complete this program will develop a variety of skills and the knowledge to contribute to sport at the community and school level in assistant coaching or official roles. The program includes practical coaching and officiating experience that will challenge and ultimately build student confidence and decision-making skills. The opportunity also exists for students to improve their own sporting performance by learning about physical conditioning. This flexible program allows teachers to incorporate their own sporting/fitness experience and knowledge to tailor the practical experiences to manage classes that include varied sporting abilities and meet student learning needs.

Note: User pay excursions/camps will be used to enhance the curriculum at a cost of $TBA for the year. An event will be created with the cost, once the subject selection has been completed and parents will receive a notification on COMPASS to complete payment.

VET Outdoor Recreation: 

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to be competent in performing core skills in outdoor recreation environments and assisting with the conduct of a range of outdoor activities. Work would be undertaken in field locations such as camps or in indoor recreation centres or facilities, in differing environments such as water-based, dry land and mountainous terrains, using a diverse range of equipment. Students work on developing leadership and organisational skills through theory and practical sessions.
