Year 9 into Year 10

Aim of Year 10 Course Selection

In Term 3, all students wishing to enrol into Year 10 for the next school year are required to complete the Course Selection process outlined on this site.

At Year 10, students complete four electives over the year, two in each semester. These will be allocated according to the order of student preference requests and the availability of elective subjects on the timetable when it is constructed.  Prior student results and student participation in a range of co-curricular activities are considered when course counselling occurs. Students will also have the opportunity to access a VCE subject, if their results in Year 9 are above expected level.

The aim of the Course Selection process is to choose a course that is well researched and suited to the individual student.  The following steps will ensure students are confident in the choices they make not only for Year 10, but for Year 11 & 12.   Through discussions with parents, students should submit a list of preferred subjects they wish to undertake next year.

In selecting a course of study students should consider:

Step 1 - Complete the "Career Action Plan"

All Year 10 students for the new school year are required to complete the "Career Action Plan" on the career tools site.  Time will be given to complete this plan during Pastoral care.

Step 2 - Research Subject Information

Subject descriptions are listed in the dropdown menu at the top of this page. It is recommended that students look at each of these descriptors and make a  preference list of nine subjects they would be interested in taking.

Step 3 - VET or VCE Subject (optional)

Year 10 students will have the opportunity to undertake an internal VET or VCE subject if they have received an invitation.
See the VET and VCE link at the top menu for more information.

Step 4 - Course Selection Video Tutorial

All current Year 9  students wishing to enrol for the new school year need to view the Course Selection video to ensure they know how to complete their course selections. Once you have viewed the video, complete the Course Selection process.

Step 5 - Course Counseling interview with parents and carers - only required for students that have been selected to undertake a VCE subject in Year 10.

Course Counselling will take place on the following dates: TBC.
