Thrive Extension Language
TCL Thrive Extension language is a set of extension resources within the Thrive Extension program, intended for students in Years 5/6 in TCL Lead/Thrive schools. It is accessible in the WLS at the end of each mini-unit C; in this case Unit 10C.
The purpose of these extension resources is to broaden students’ language repertoire and skills by introducing new vocabulary and functional language. It consolidates students’ existing language base and extends their range within familiar topics, scaffolding the use of new language for communicative purposes. Spoken production focuses on spontaneous communication, supported by preparation and rehearsal, while written production develops students’ ability to create a variety of text types. Through modelled examples, students are guided to understand purpose, structure and context in writing.
You are advised to complete TCL professional learning module 10 ‘Thrive Extension language’, prior to program delivery.
