Progression maps & tools

This document describes how students progress through the TCL program. 

It includes reference to student progression and achievement in:

•  language and intercultural capability

• literacy development, including phonics and reading progression 

It includes a high frequency vocabulary purpose and list. 

This document describes the levels schools and staff achieve at different stages in their TCL journey, from ‘Induct’ (Auslan only) and ‘Discover’ (oral languages) in their first year of TCL to ‘Lead’ as they develop experience and expertise through the stages of ‘Expand’, ‘Embed’ and ‘Thrive’. 

This document highlights the progression continuum for the elements of Structure, Delivery, Pedagogy, Assessment and School Culture. 

Schools are encouraged to use the School and Staff Progression Map as a roadmap for reviewing and improvement planning purposes.

Schools can use this TCL School Commitment Progression Tracker Tool to reflect on what TCL currently looks like in each program component and identify next steps for progression, including setting a SMART goal.
