12 x 10, 2026, Acrylic paint on canvas
My third painting is my narrative painting where my idea was to make my toy monkey on a stroller with the background different colors. I got this idea because of how I got that toy monkey from my grandpa when I was little and it's very special to me. The process was easy first I sketched out the monkey and his details then the stroller, then started to paint the monkeys body which first I put a base color down then added white then I moved to the stroller and its detail after I got that done I went to make his face like how I did the body and didn’t add his face features until I was done adding the colors to the background and out lining the monkey in black then I added his face features. The artwork means “Childhood monkey” and the thing I want my audience to think about is their favorite toy when they were little. The most difficult part was making the monkey's fur because of how it would blend in sometimes if I made it too dark and I fixed that by doing the skin tone color first then adding the white. I would change the fur since he is stitched and doesn’t have fur anywhere. This is a realistic painting of how he was my childhood toy when I was seven years old. It makes it unique to me because of how I am a simple but outgoing person like his colors. I love the 3D look that the black outline did to it.
