5 x 6, 2026, Acrylic paint on paint paper
My idea for my baseline painting was to split the painting into two sides which was going to be one side with a sun set and the other side at night time with both having clouds and the sunset being colorful and peaceful with the night being dark but bright. I got this idea because of how I like sunsets and how sunsets have their own unique to them and how night time is something that looks cool to me too. The process that I did with this was first making the sunset side where I made the sky first with the color then the sun and clouds then I made the ground where I mixed pink and green to try to get this mix style to it, then I made the night time side where I did the ground first doing black and adding a little bit of green from the sunset side to it then moved to the sky adding the sky color that needed to be dark with brightness to it then added to moon and clouds to look kinda different from a normal night sky. The artwork means “Two sides to the night time” because of how when it starts turning dark the sun starts going down making a sunset then turning dark with no more sun. With this painting my audience should think about the best sunset they have seen and the best night time. If I started over I would make the ground of the sunset side only pink and get rid of the purple spots in the sky and for the night time I would get rid of the green and put a white line in the middle to indicate the split sides. The style of art this painting gives off is surreal because of how it's like a scene that kinda challenges reality. The thing that makes it unique to my style is how I’m a bright person and love sunsets and love the colors in the sunset. I love how I tried putting effort in making my own way of a sunset and night time even if it came out not the way it looks good.
