7 x 10, 2026, Acrylic paint on canvas
My idea for my first painting was to make my identity painting which I picked to do me as a baby when it was my first every fourth of July. I got this idea because of how I love the fourth of July, because of the fun times I have with my family and friends and because of how it would be a good painting that could turn 3D. It's an inspiration to my life because of how we always have a party with friends on the fourth of July and how there is always a good vibe. The process was an adventure, I first sketched out the outline of me with a projector making sure I added the details and the words on the bib, then I decided to work on the bib first where I first painted it white then started to paint the letters the color they had in the picture and painted to star which first I was going leave how it looked in the picture where it was white and red but since the bib was white it didn’t look good and I made it blue and red. Then I moved to the outline of red around the bib which was mostly red with the blue tee shirt poking out a little. Then I moved to the face which was hard because of how I painted it a skin color and added white and brown to it but it wasn’t working because it would just blend in so I had to move to where I painted my face white then added the skin color where I added a 3d look to the eyes, nose, mouth. Second to last I colored my moms jean color so it didn’t look like I was floating and her shirt color. Lastly I got this idea to add fireworks to the background since it was based on the fourth of July. The artwork means “My first ever fourth” and the audience can think about their own first fourth of July. The most difficult part was the face but the struggles I had to overcome I did by switching to another way to do it or going to a smaller paint brush. I wouldn’t change anything about this painting because of how I love how it turned out. This painting is realistic and it makes it unique to me because it's me as a baby with my mom. I love everything about it. The fireworks added a good background to it which I loved.
