18 x 6, 2026, Stone wear clay and acrylic paint and glaze
My idea for my ceramics pot was to make the bottom skinny and then around six rows go out making a curved shape then go back in again and since this pot had to reassemble me the details would be a mix of flowers, butterflies, stars, rainbows, and a sky scene with this face. I got this idea from what I like and what shows me. The process was long, I had to make a 18 inch pot where you started with a circle base then made coils to build up and with that I decided to make the bottom skinny then go out then go back in and every time I added 3 coils I would smooth it out. After I got to the size I needed and it was smoothed enough on the outside and the inside I started on making my first detail which was my sky where I added clouds, the sun, a heart, and a bird/plane. For my second detail I did two rainbows and a face by the rainbows. Then the third detail was the actual face that was going on the pot where I added a bun for her hair and added stars around the face. Then my last detail was flowers and butterflies. The artwork means “What it is like to see me” and I want my audience to think about what they are and what they show to everyday people. The most difficult part was the part where it came out because I had to make the coils go out enough to make it look how I wanted it to and I had to make sure it was all even, so I overcame this with using this paddle to wack it in and have the out look. I wouldn’t change anything if I started over because of how it came out and how it all comes together well. This art piece is realistic since it resembles me and what I love. The thing that makes it unique to me is that the whole pot is something that I like or love. I love all the different colors I glazed on it because it makes the details pop.
