Meeting Minutes
On Thursday October 6, 2022, Ringgold High School Public Safety had an advisory meeting. Present for the Ringgold Public Safety meeting was Travis Head, Catoosa County Sheriff Gary Sisk, Dale Head with Hamilton County EMS, Brian Stooksbury with Fort Oglethorpe PD, and Brian Dedman with the Catoosa County Fire Department. This was the first full advisory meeting of the 2022-2023 school year. The purpose was to review goals and objectives of the program and discuss Industry Certification.
During the meeting we discussed the upcoming Detention Officer Certification course. This course has been a long term objective of the program. We have been working on approval for this course the past three to four years. Sheriff Sisk talked about the time line moving forward for the spring 2023 course at Ringgold High School. We are currently still recruiting participants for this class. Catoosa County S.O. plans to set up a booth at our career fair on November 17, 2022. We will meet again after November 1, 2022 to discuss POST requirements for students and issue packets to participants.
During the meeting, Asst Chief Dale Head,with Hamilton County EMS. reaffirmed a commitment to recruiting at Ringgold High School. Plans were made for a presentation to Seniors in March of 2023. Hamilton County EMS will also set up booths at our career fair on November 17, 2022 and during lunch periods in spring 2023 prior to the presentation. Hamilton County EMS has current plans to offer another cadet class in June 2023.
At the meeting Battalion Chief Brian Dedman expressed interest in assisting with CERT training. Catoosa County Fire Department will provide additional fire training to reinforce the CERT fire suppression standards. The fire department also has the capabilities to assist in drone training for the after school CERT training. The fire department has two FAA licensed pilots to assist in training any student that has interest in seeking FAA licensing. Also discussed was a possible fire certification course at Ringgold High School for students interested in the fire services. Plans were made to poll for interest among students and CERT team members.
