Welcome to your class portfolio! The purpose of this site is to show CAPE the development of your arts integration partnership, as guided by your big idea and inquiry question.

Feel free to use the format we have constructed, or you can use "content blocks" from the "Insert" tab, which will allow you to customize the space as you would like.

No matter the format you use, make sure you have the following:

Summer Multi-Media Explorations

Our summer program was an opportunity for students new and old to explore their creativity through a variety of forms of digital artmaking. Some students who had participated in the after-school program during the school year immediately continued on projects that they hadn't completed. Other students tried 3D printing, graphic design, sound production, coding and video production for the very first time.

The class functioned very similarly to the school year - instead of having specific lessons presented to the class, students were given a variety of options to try. Students were able to work independently or collaboratively to explore their own interests. Some students worked in groups to make movies, recruiting classmates for a variety of roles along the way. Other students worked on their own, creating complex projects on computers.

Coding/ Game Design

This student used beepbox to create a custom soundtrack for a custom video game.  The student wasn't prompted to do so, but instead engaged in the combination of skills out of necessity for the project.

Same student who was creating their video game soundtrack now using Scratch to create their own custom video game.

Sound Production

In addition to implementing to using sound in video game design and film production, some students explored music production on computers using SoundTrap.

3D Printing

Student using 3D Slash to design their own 3D print.

One student made a 3D print, then brought it to their other CAPE art class and painted on it, drawing a connection outside of our classroom.

Students learned maintenance of the 3D printer. Here, a student is replacing a filament spool on the printer.

Electronics

Student uses a battery and LED lights to experiment with the flow of electricity.

Student discovers how many LED lights can be powered by a single battery.

Graphic Design and Stickers

Student designing a sticker using PixilArt.

This student took their initial idea from PixilArt and refined it in their free time to make a new image.

Students taking their designs downstairs to the office to have their stickers printed off. Students had to bring sticker paper from the classroom and learn how to insert it into the printer.

Movie Making

Some students experimented with shorter-length movie making, learning aspects of framing, script writing, acting, and editing. One group of students worked diligently throughout the summer to finish an ambitious movie that was begun during the school year. Students had to collaborate with each other in order to have enough actors for each others' movies. Students began co-writing dialogue and improvising scenes. In the completed film below, more technical camera angles and audio recording techniques begin being implemented at the end.

For one movie, students went so far as to move locations to film a new scene.
