DRAMAÂ
Ms. Maya & Ms. Johnson
In Drama class we worked on connecting mind, body and voice to express our full selves!
Our ENSEMBLE began the semester playing games like ZIP ZAP ZOP to learn about picking up cues, raising stakes, and keeping our energy up. We played different variations of CHARADES to learn about specificity and intention combined all of the things that we learned to create our own games!
First things first: WARM UPS!
Warming up our bodies and voices is the most important way to prepare for whatever the day throws at us!
We did call and response exercises from various distances and played around with different levels (1-10). Throughout the semester we did this both inside and out. This helped us practice filing the spaces with our voices and making sure our message got all way to our scene partners.
Combining some of the Tongue Twisters we learned with a Call and Response exercise allows us to work on diction, projection and intention all at once!
We worked together to turn some of our favorite games into DRAMA games
One of our absolute FAVES was "ACTION, CUT!"Â
Think "Red Light, Green Light" but make it DRAMA!
If an actor moves after the director calls "cut" they must go back to "PLACES"
We lovee FLOCKING!
This exercise combines so many of the things we've learned this semester: Listening, picking up our cues, keeping our energy up, saying "yes, and", and working together as an ensemble. We even get to include some of the physical work we did with animals!
