Canadiens wanted to respect for bilingual and bicultural country
First Nations wanted to have the rights of their lands maintained and the government to honour these rights
English-speaking Canadians wanted to be free to move west of Ontario and establish farms
The government wanted a railway across the country and they hoped to acquire it without difficulty from the people of Canada
