Talking circle prompt:
Imagine that the leaders of the Mi’kmaq, the Kichesiprini or the Haudenosaunee have invited you to participate in a talking circle to discuss the future. Colonization by the French, the British and the Dutch has put many pressures on each of their societies. Choose a society.
What group of people were you responsible for reading about? What are 3 things you learned about this group of First Nations people and/or the relationship they had with the Europeans?
What, in your opinion, is the most important pressure? Why? You will have a chance to speak, just as everyone does.
Quick Write Prompt: After thinking about the questions we discussed in the talking circle, how do your answers compare with what others shared? Did you learn anything new from listening to others or from your own thoughts that makes you think differently?
