Thyrohyoid membrane

A broad fibro-elastic membrane that sits between the thyroid cartilage and the hyoid bone. The superior laryngeal a. and v., and the internal branch of the superior laryngeal n. pierce the lateral aspect of the membrane to reach the larynx. The medial part of the membrane is thicker than the lateral parts, and is sometimes called the median thyrohyoid ligament.
