The 2024 Data Science Fellow Cohort included 16 students who paired with faculty to integrate data science across diverse disciplines ranging from ecology to medicine to language. Dave Song and Peter Graham worked with Dr. Thanujaa Subramaniam to prepare a data science workshop for clinicians at the Warren Alpert Medical School. Brooke Wangenheim, with the help of Rebecca Kartzinel, built a map-based interface and plant database for students of Evolution of Plant Diversity to identify and source species. Raima Islam collaborated with Tyler Kartzinel and Timothy Divoll to enhance both the teaching of ecology and facilitate research in parasitology using R. Alongside Christelle Alvarez, Sita Pawar digitized and analyzed Egyptian hieroglyphic translation and transliteration, while John Zou worked with Sohimi Ramachandran to integrate datasets for statistical analysis of biological data. Ivy Zhuang developed an asynchronous bootcamp to equip students in Ja-Naé Duane's PRIME program with the skillset to apply data-driven thinking to entrepreneurial projects. Ashton Glover partnered with Chris Horvat to build Jupyter notebooks for climate modeling simulations; Ayushman Choudhury worked with Professor Seda Şalap-Ayça to redesign assignments in her Advanced GIS course. Chris Kourkoulakos and Thomas Leonard wrote modules in Python and R for the CODIAC for Health with the help of Elizabeth Chen and Neil Sarkar.
