Karianne is an Assistant Professor of Data Science (DSI) and Earth, Environmental, and Planetary Sciences (DEEPS) at Brown University. Her research interest lies in scientific machine learning (SciML). Her past work has focused on machine learning (ML) for pattern recognition and discovery in large, complex sensor data sets, with applications in earthquake seismology and biodefense. Karianne received her Sc.B. in Applied Mathematics from Brown University and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computational and Mathematical Engineering from Stanford University. She completed her postdoctoral training in Computer Science at Harvard University as a Data Science Initiative (HDSI) Postdoctoral Fellow. Karianne was also previously a data scientist at MIT Lincoln Laboratory.
