Holmes Innovation School
The Holmes Innovation School's Journey In iStudio
Our Problem Of Practice: At the Holmes Innovation school, our students are perpetually tardy or absent. A typical school day for us would ideally start at 9:20, but you would often walk into a classroom around 9:40 and notice that half the class is not present.

A New Approach: We were approached with a new online platform called Cortex and asked to pilot it for the district. The second grade team met with the founder of Cortex, to develop personalized playlists aligned to Common Core Standards to suit the needs of our students and our push for engagement immediately after arrival.

Unfortunately, we did not have enough data because we started Cortex in May to see if the platform directly helped with student attendance, but 100% of students were engaged while on technology.
Future goal to solve our problem of practice: Perfect our personalized blended learning platforms to leverage student engagement. We are launching a second round of Cortex by December 2017
