TechBoston Academy

TechBoston Academy is delighted to announce that, with the support of a $300,000 grant from the Barr Foundation, we are partnering with the STEAM Studio Foundation, MIT Edgerton Center, New Vista, and BPS Innovation to redesign our high school to support our students' entry into the Innovation Academy. We launched our redesign process in January, 2018.

Journey in iStudios: Spring 2017

The TechBoston Academy iStudio team started with deep reflection and a draft of the problem of practice.

iStudio team members empathized with students through observations of the 8th grade ELA class.

The expanded iStudio team, now with the 8th grade ELA teacher recruited, launched a cycle of observation, debrief, and design.

"Mastery of the flexible space was achieved through ongoing modeling about how we negotiate challenges, advocate for ourselves, use our classmates and resources to facilitate complex issues relating to the final product

I also recorded students using accountable talk with each other, voiced over feedback, uploaded to YouTube, and had students self reflect by seeing themselves talking to each other. "
