FAQs
How will you know how you’re performing in IT?
Students will complete two assessments each academic year which will be used as one of the key measurements to measure progress. Students will complete a range of end of topic assessments at the end of each topic, which will feed into their revision plan. At the start of each lesson students will spend time completing retrieval practice, which will provide them a bespoke break down of where their gaps are in the curriculum.
How can your parents support you with your learning?
Encourage students to complete all home learning activities.
Encourage students to attend after school sessions
Encourage students to make effective of class room resources, along with past papers and exam board mark schemes, to help them prepare for the written exam.
Encourage students to keep up to date with current developments in technology for example following news reports on the BBC, following reports on cyber security attacks etc.
What additional help is available if I am struggling?
You will have access to a range of online learning platforms, knowledge organisers and class content to help you access your learning from anywhere. In the department we will run small intervention sessions for those who need the additional support, including additional workshops where you can develop your practical skills on databases and spreadsheets.
What homework will you expect to complete as part of the course?
Students will get homework every week, to help develop their subject knowledge on the topics that are covered that week or content that has been previously covered. Majority of homework will be set online using Microsoft Teams.
Do I need access to any specific software, Books or Resources?
You don’t need to buy any specific software to complete the course, as all the resources we will use to cover the curriculum will be available through Microsoft Teams.
It would be beneficial if you have the Microsoft Office Suite installed on your computer at home so that students can practice using Microsoft Excel.
