Quick answer is "of course it does, why else would Mr. Bishoff be teaching us this?
But why does it matter?
As we've discussed already, technical drafting is, at its base, a way of communicating using images, and text. In order to provide a metal fabrication technician with the information she needs to create an accurate machine part, the instructions need to be clear and easy to read. That means instructions need to be precise. If the tech can't read your handwriting the work done cannot be completed. Keep in mind, the fabricator may not be in the same city or even continent as you. While computer drafting as taken away much of the need for precise handwriting for final documents, the sketches leading up to the final draft also need to be clear.
Time to give it a try. Using using the guide and videos below complete your drafting handouts on your drafting boards. Be sure to notice the curved letters, like letter "C" require more than one stroke. This is to help improve accuracy and, thus, legibility. Practice all the letters until you get it right. If you need additional handouts, please don't hesitate to ask or download and print them yourself.
