Conflict Resolution and Bullying Prevention
Teaching students conflict resolution skills, preventing bullying, and responding effectively to bullying incidents are essential aspects of creating a positive and safe learning environment in the Bedford School District.
What is Conflict?
Conflict occurs in various environments, including on school grounds in classrooms, the cafeteria, a sports field, the playground or the bus. A conflict is a disagreement, including struggles related to needs, drives, interests or ideas that are either not compatible or are in opposition to each other. The Bedford School District seeks to avoid conflicts between students by educating students and providing targeted interventions.
What is Bullying?
Bullying is defined in New Hampshire State Law within RSA 193-F, Pupil Safety and Violence Prevention Act, and in Bedford School District Policy JICK. Since not all conflicts fit the definition of bullying, it is important to know how bullying is defined.
