Namaste. Balodyan is happy to announce the organization of the first ever world-wide Hindi video-speech contest to reward and promote speaking in Hindi.

Entries are invited beginning now till 19 August, 2016 (Indian Standard Time).

Rules of Balodyan's First Vishva Hindi Video BHAASHAN Pratiyogitaa :

1) The contest will be held in three groups - vaachaa (वाचा) for learners of ages 7-10, vaaNii (वाणी) for learners of ages 11-14, and vichaar (विचार) for learners of ages 15-18.

2) Topic : मेरी पाठशाला / मेरा विद्यालय / मेरा महाविद्यालय (Choose one title).

3) Prizes for EACH group - first prize - $101 (Rs 7,001), second prize - $75 (Rs 5,001), third prize - $51 (Rs. 3,501), and an audience vote prize - $25 (Rs. 1,701).

4) There is NO entry fee for entering this contest.

5) The contest is open to participants of all nationalities from around the world.

6) Only one entry will be accepted per participant.

7) Maximum time per speech is 3 minutes. Speeches beyond this time will be disqualified. Organizers' decision will be final in this regard.

8) Speeches in Hindi language only will be admitted in the contest. Some commonly used words from other languages will be acceptable.

9) Hate-inducing, violence-provoking, derogatory, vulgar, and off-the-topic speeches will be disqualified from the contest. Organizers' decision will be final in this respect.

10) Speech will be given by a single person in the form of a discourse / lecture, and not as a conversation with another person.

11) Contestants may be required randomly to submit a notarized proof of their birth date (birth certificate or school record).

12) Participants will video record their speeches and upload them on their Youtube account (this is a free account that can be activated with your free Gmail account).

13) Title your video on Youtube in this format : VHVBP2016 - Contestant's Full Name.

14) The speeches may be recorded at different locations (such as school, house, playground) and then compiled as one video. Use of props is encouraged.

15) Once you record your speech, and upload it on Youtube, make it Public or Unlisted, copy the link, and include it in your application at this link (Please open in Google Chrome) : http://goo.gl/forms/Ow45ftEr4K 

16) By submitting your speech video in BHAASHAN (2016) contest, you agree to transfer all rights to your speech video to Balodyan, who will download the video, add a small intro to it, and then re-upload it on Balodyan's Youtube channel for audience voting.

17) Balodyan retains the right to use submitted videos for all legal purposes, such as, but not limited to education, recruitment, promotion, and revenue-generation.

18) All entries will be open for audience voting on Youtube. Participants will be notified when the videos would be available on Balodyan's Youtube channel for audience voting.

19) Three designated judges will award the prizes in each category based on criteria such as (but not limited to) language, content, clarity, memorization, delivery, and uniqueness of the speech. Judges' decision will be final. Prize for audience voting will be decided by the most number of "likes" received by contestants in each group. These may be different or same as one of the first three winners chosen by the judges in each group.

20) Prizes will be announced on 14th September, 2016 on the occasion of Hindi divas. Prize money will be awarded in Rs. if the winner is located in India, everywhere else, it will be awarded in dollars via Paypal / check / Chase QuickPay (recipient's choice).

 Guidelines for the Content of the Speech :

You may choose to talk about -

1) Name of the school, town where it is located, number of students studying there, and the grades (standards) offered at the school (required info). *

2) Language medium of the school, subjects offered at the school, prayers sung at the school.

3) Schedule of the school - start time, end time, recess time, extra-curricular activities and their schedule.

4) Start and end of the school year, how many days a week the classes meet, holidays observed.

5) What sports are played in the school, what cultural activities can students participate in (plays, songs, celebrations, debate, student council, Yog, etc).

6) How the students are transported to and from the school.

7) If the school provides any meals to students, what meals, what foods are offered.

8) Homework policy / examination policy and schedule.

9) Any special awards / rankings won by the school.

10) What you like / don't like about your school.

11) Any special features - library, bulletin board, school magazine / paper, technology lab, science lab, student council, etc.

12) Some changes / improvements you want to see in your school.

13) What you like about your teachers, the teaching / learning methodology, your favorite teacher, how many teachers for how many students, how many students in each class, etc.

14) Who you want to thank for helping you with this video.

In three minutes you may not be able to talk about all the things suggested above. Please feel free to talk about the points that you deem to be important in talking about your school.
