Memento Mori

The theme of these works was "memento mori;" a powerful and touching concept that has inspired many artists over the years. This Latin phrase translates to "remember that you will die" and is often used as a reminder of the inevitability of death and the fleeting nature of life. For these works the students were introduced to Guno Park; an artist whose works often feature symbols and motifs associated with death, such as skulls and bones, as well as elements of nature such as plants and flowers. The drawings were executed with graphite, a medium that allowed the students to create stunning, highly detailed images that capture the intricacies of the subjects. These artworks are able to convey a sense of texture and depth that brings the drawings to life, imbuing them with a sense of realism that is both eerie and captivating.
