Cubism Still-life

In this fun and colorful project, MYP1 students explored the art movement known as Cubism and created their own still-life compositions using mixed media. Cubism takes traditional art forms and breaks down objects and subjects into geometric shapes and angles, so we get different perspectives all at once. Throughout, the students learned about the key principles of Cubism, such as fragmentation, multiple perspectives, and abstraction. The class incorporated a variety of materials such as paper, paint, and found objects to create texture and contrast in their pieces. By the end, the class created unique mixed-media compositions that showcase their understanding of this revolutionary art movement.
