Grid: Warm & Cool Colors

The project is a great way for students to learn and apply color theory in a creative and engaging way. The project involves creating a 1-inch grid system on paper and then drawing the outline of an animal of their choosing within the grid. The use of a grid system helps students to develop their precision and accuracy when drawing, while also providing a structure for the composition of the artwork. Once the outline is complete, students apply their knowledge of color theory to color the subject and the background of the artwork using either warm or cool colors. Students will experiment with colors, learning how they can be used to create contrast and balance within their artwork. After completing this project, students gained a greater appreciation for color in art and its ability to create emotion and give meaning.
