Tribute to the Elderly
The surrealists used the collage as a medium to evoke psychic responses and to represent the activity of the unconscious mind, the irrational juxtaposition of unrelated images to create a composition within an ambiguous frame. The work aims to elicit a sympathetic response, forcing the viewer to acknowledge the inherent "sense" of the irrational and logically inexplicable.
During the last few years due to the pandemic, many older people have had to endure unprecedented periods of anxiety and confinement... they have not been able to spend time with their loved ones and find a shoulder to lean on. Each wrinkle and silvered hair has its own story to tell, they are signs of wisdom. The contrast created between the background of the landscape with marine fauna and the figure in black and white contrast seeks to provoke feelings and honor the elderly and the wisdom of nature. These works are a tribute to Life, Nature, Wisdom, and Art itself.
