Materials
Collage Board/Surface (size ~15''x20'')— examples: Crescent board, cardboard or piece of scrap wood, foam board, etc.
Acrylic Matte Medium (8oz.); glue stick or Mod Podge OK
Drawing Media
Start collecting various found/collected materials for your collage— i.e., fabric/cloth, paper, string/twine/wire, old magazines, leaves/plants, unwanted books, magazines, newspaper, computer printouts, ribbons, buttons, sandpaper, nuts, bolts, other more three-dimensional materials, written text and poems, leftover materials other studio art projects, etc.

Michele Theberge's demo shows you how to use matte gel mediums in your collage.
Note—the audio/video quality isn't the best, but it has some helpful info.
Note—this demo uses acrylic paint, but you can use your watercolor crayons/pencils (or another medium).
Paint out areas of color on paper, cut them into shapes, and assemble into your collage (using acrylic mediums as adhesive).
Matisse used this technique for his ‘cut-out’ paintings by having his assistants paint giant swatches of color that were then cut and collaged at his direction to create immersive works in his room.
