For our final project, we will create a mixed-media drawing that combines collage + any drawing media of your choice.
On Wednesday (5/5), I'll go over the project parameters/details, show relevant artworks, and answer any questions.
Materials
Collage Board/Surface (size ~15''x20'')— examples: Crescent board, cardboard or piece of scrap wood, foam board, etc.
Acrylic Matte Medium (8oz.); glue stick or Mod Podge OK
Drawing Media
Start collecting various found/collected materials for your collage— i.e., fabric/cloth, paper, string/twine/wire, old magazines, leaves/plants, unwanted books, magazines, newspaper, computer printouts, ribbons, buttons, sandpaper, nuts, bolts, other more three-dimensional materials, written text and poems, leftover materials other studio art projects, etc.
Please complete the exercise in your sketchbook. Use your watercolor crayons/pencils.

Fill your shape/s with colors (lines, shapes, patterns, etc.); you're free to color outside of your shape, if you choose.

The word collage comes from the French coller, meaning to glue or stick. In the visual arts, it's a technique that uses parts of images, materials, shapes, textures, etc. to form a new whole (image).
