A summary of each of the 3 main SCQF levels that pupils will be working towards is given below:
Third Level Outcomes – Able to answer basic describe and explain responses, provides a basic supported personal viewpoint, provides a religious and non-religious viewpoint
Fourth Level Outcomes – Able to provide developed describe and explain responses, provides a relevant supported personal viewpoint, describes a religious and non-religious viewpoint, provides basic comparisons or contrasts
Fifth Level Outcomes – Able to provide developed describe and explain responses, provides a straightforward supported personal viewpoint, explains strengths and weakness to religious and non-religious viewpoints, provides straightforward comparisons or contrasts
All pupils will be working at Level 4 (National 4) into November but are encouraged to challenge themselves as the year progresses to aim for more challenging outcomes to meet National 5 unit outcomes. Pupils are tracked at the level of outcome they achieve in tasks and assessments.
Working Level and Working Grade descriptions for S3 RME:
Fourth A: A pupil achieving this will be making excellent progress when they Describe, Discuss, Analyse, Investigate, Evaluate, Express a developed opinion. They will consistently demonstrate these skills and show a clear understanding of the content. Likely to achieve National 5 unit passes.
Fourth B: A pupil achieving this will be making good progress when they Describe, Discuss, Analyse, Investigate, Explain, Express a developed opinion. They will demonstrate these skills most of the time and show some understanding of the content. May be able to achieve National 5 unit passes.
Fourth C: A pupil achieving this will be making reasonable progress when they Describe, Discuss, Analyse, Investigate, Explain, Express a developed opinion. They will sometimes demonstrate these skills and show a simple understanding of the content. Likely to achieve National 4 unit passes.
Fourth D: A pupil achieving this will be making some progress when they Describe, Discuss, Analyse, Investigate, Explain, Express a developed opinion. They will demonstrate only some of these skills and sometimes struggle to understand the content. May need support to achieve National 4 unit passes or may need to focus on National 3 unit passes.
