S2 Graphic Communication
One period a week is spent in the classroom/ computer suite where pupils learn skills in graphic communication techniques, including the use of equipment, graphics materials and software.
Pupils will make use of professional 3D modelling software [Autodesk Inventor], developing and building upon their knowledge of computer-aided design to explore and create 3D models.
Pupils will also learn about graphic design elements and principles and will use professional desktop publishing software [Serif Affinity] to create promotional graphics using a range of digital techniques.

The following benchmarks were looked at when grading your child’s work depending on which units they have completed.
Graphic Communication:
Uses computer Aided Design (CAD) commands, techniques and practices required to create a model
Produces rendered 3D CAD models to show the light source, surface texture, materials applied to the model and a background
Recognises and can apply the design principles to DTP promotional Graphic
Justify the choice of colours, layout in a promotional graphics

Working Level and Working Grade descriptions for S2 Technical:
The majority of pupils at this stage will be working at Third C or above.
Third A: A pupil achieving this level- will be making excellent progress at CfE Level 3, is achieving well against all the outcomes covered. They will be demonstrating these key skills in the projects that they have so far completed. There will be evidence that they have taken the project further than was required.
Third B: A pupil achieving this level- will be making good progress at CfE Level 3, is achieving well against most the outcomes covered. They will be demonstrating these key skills in the projects that they have so far completed.
Third C: A pupil achieving this level- will be making reasonable progress at CfE Level 3, is achieving well against some the outcomes covered while finding others challenging. They will be demonstrating these key skills in the projects that they have so far completed.
Third D: A pupil achieving this level- will be making some progress at CfE Level 3, is achieving against a few of the outcomes covered while finding others challenging. They will be demonstrating these key skills in the projects that they have so far completed.
Second A to D: A pupil achieving these levels- will be making some progress at CfE Level 2, is achieving against one or two of the outcomes covered while finding most challenging. They will be demonstrating these key skills in the projects that they have so far completed.
