S3 Graphic Communication provides pupils the opportunity to develop creative and effective skills in graphic design and visual literacy.
Pupils learn to use manual graphic techniques and industry standard computer software to develop their creativity and technical skills.
In manual graphics pupils will study a range of 2D and 3D sketching skills to develop ideas and communicate technical information.
3D modelling software [Autodesk Inventor] and desktop publishing software [Serif Affinity] is used to develop skills and produce graphics for planning, production, and promotional purposes.
Projects covered in S3 Graphic Communication include:
Orthographic freehand sketching
3D modelling of ear buds

The majority of work covered in S3 Graphic Communication is based around CfE Level 4 Outcomes and Benchmarks. The majority of pupils at this stage of S3 are working at Fourth C or above. This does not mean that pupils performing below this level are not making progress – all pupils are making progress, but some require more support with the content.
